Doctors Hospital CEO Takes New Position

Augusta, GA – After 11 years of service, Shayne George will be resigning from his position as CEO of Doctors Hospital, effective May 31, 2011.
“It is with mixed emotion that I announce that I have accepted a new CEO appointment in HCA [Hospital Corporation of America] and will transfer from Doctors Hospital to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point,” said Shayne George, Doctors Hospital CEO. Bayonet Point is currently a leading hospital in the HCA Tampa, Florida market.
In the 11 years George has been with Doctors Hospital, five have been as the Chief Executive Officer and six have been as the Chief Operating Officer. He says he prides himself on the many accomplishments made by the hospital staff ranging from one of the largest construction projects in Doctors Hospital history to receiving prestigious awards and recognition for providing exceptional patient care.

Recruitment to source and secure the next Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital is underway. Terence Vanarkel, Chief Operating Officer, will have interim Chief Executive Officer Authority until a new one has been recruited and assumes the role.
