Doctors Hospital Helps Cancer Patients Look Good & Feel Better
January 31, 2012
Augusta, GA - More than 6 million women are currently battling cancer in the United States. All women want to look their best and cancer treatments often unfairly rob patients of their beauty and self-confidence. Life-saving treatments often have severe physical side-effects including hair loss, nausea and fatigue that stand in the way of pampering herself. Doctors Hospital wants every woman to feel beautiful so they’re teaming up with The American Cancer Society to make sure it happens.
Look Good, Feel Better® is a free, hands-on, workshop that helps female cancer patients cope with and combat appearance-related effects of chemo and radiation therapy. The workshop is led by a licensed cosmetologist from the American Cancer Society who will teach the women about skin care and make-up applications as well as wig/hair techniques. A free gift of full sized, name brand cosmetics is given to each participant for use during and after the workshop.
“We deal with cancer patients every day and we see the emotional toll it takes to on women as their image begins to change,” says Lance Danko, Director of Oncology at Doctors Hospital. “This is an opportunity to help empower women and let them know that they’re still beautiful despite this awful disease.”
