Former NFL Player to Surprise Pediatric Burn Patient
April 18, 2012
Augusta, GA – This Friday, April 20th, former New Orleans Saints Offensive Lineman and University of South Carolina graduate, Na’Shan Goddard, will surprise 11 year-old burn victim, Justin Emfinger.
“He is going to flip out when he sees him, we can’t wait!” says Bryan Emfinger, father of burn victim, Justin Emfinger.
Justin is currently at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center recovering from burns that covered approximately 12% of his body, including his face. The accident occurred where he lives in Mississippi. Justin’s parents say that he was helping his grandfather fix a garden tiller when the spark plug accidentally ignited, the flames going all over Justin. Having undergone three surgeries in the first several days after admission to the Burn Center, he will undergo a fourth Thursday.
“It’s been tough, but we’re trying to keep his spirits high,” says Jennifer Wallace, mother of burn victim, Justin Emfinger. “We told him that Na’Shan was going to visit him, but he has no idea what day.”
Justin has grown up loving the New Orleans Saints because his father is originally from the area. He’s had the opportunity to attend several Saints’ practices and even has pictures with the Saints’ cheerleaders that his parents say he loves to show off.
“This will really help his spirits, it’s going to be a great thing,” says Jennifer Wallace.
