Stuffed Animals For Smiles
May 16, 2011
Augusta, GA – It’s a helpless feeling many people have when they see a small child in a hospital bed suffering from burns, but thanks to some local community members, these children will get a special surprise helping to lift their spirits.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am
WHAT: Members of the Richmond County Fire Department and CSRA Credit Union will be touring the burn unit while giving out stuffed animals to children who are patients
WHERE: Doctors Hospital’s Joseph M. Still Burn Center
This kind gesture happens twice a year by the Richmond County Fire Department and CSRA Credit Union. Every year more than 700 burn patients at Doctors Hospital are children. “There is no greater feeling than to see the smiles on the children’s faces, “says Tanya Simpson, Assistant Vice President of Burn Services. “For these people to take time out of their day for these children, who are complete strangers to them, really makes you feel good to be a part of this community and this hospital,” says Simpson.
