Thanking Those Who Save Lives
May 19, 2011
Augusta, GA – They are the first on the scene for nearly every emergency situation, and now those at Doctors Hospital are using EMS week to thank the hundreds of first responders who help save our community members lives.
WHEN: Friday, May 20, 2011 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
WHAT: EMS Week Rodeo – More than one hundred EMS workers from more than 15 counties are expected for the all day EMS rodeo. Vendors from all over will be giving out the FREE and necessary tools many of these first responders need while on the scene to include, stethoscopes, multiuse tools and training handbooks. There will be games, six hands on scenarios for the responders to learn from, as well as a lunch and learn with Region 6 EMS Medical Director, Dr. Philip Coule.
WHERE: Doctors Hospital’s South Tower, Classroom 2
Every day, the Emergency Department at Doctors Hospital averages about 15 patients who are each brought in by two first responders. “So often these first responders stabilize our patients, bring them to the emergency room, and then they go back to helping others. We want them to know, through this soon to be annual event, just how much we value them and all that they do to help us,” says Jennifer Weeks, EMS and Chest Pain Coordinator at Doctors Hospital. “We have received many letters from these responders, thanking us for showing our appreciation to them, and this Rodeo is just one more way to do that.”
