Meet Our Patient Navigators
Going to a hospital can be a scary experience for some, especially after a diagnosis. At Doctors Hospital we understand that and want our patients to have a comforting and pleasant experience from diagnosis to discharge and everything in between.
We know that often the most stressful times in a person's life come when they or a family member is ill with a chronic disease or catastrophic illness. Patients may be alone, confused, and suddenly facing an unfamiliar world of providers, tests, and treatment options. Some are unfamiliar with seeking medical care, struggle to understand medical information, and may face financial pressures or cultural barriers.
To help our patients and caregivers understand the sometimes confusing world of healthcare, Doctors Hospital has implemented a Patient Navigator program to help you every step of the way. The goal is to have seamless, coordinated care. Whether this assistance comes in the form of scheduling an appointment, answering questions about treatment, or further explanation of a diagnosis or treatment plan, our Patient Navigators are here for you.

Trish Wheeler, RN, BSN – Pelvic Health Institute
Trish Wheeler has been a nurse for 13 years. Her interest in women’s health developed at an early age as she spent time with her grandmother when she worked as a private healthcare sitter. Trish began her professional career at the Women’s Infants and Children Department in Emanuel County, where she provided breastfeeding education. This led Trish to pursue her desire to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University. During her early nursing career, she gained extensive experience in oncology services at the Medical College of Georgia, but felt called back to her first love, women’s health. This led Trish to work as a Senior Staff Nurse in ante partum, postpartum, labor and delivery, and women’s surgical services. For three years she also served as lead nurse in the Urogynecology Department at the Medical College of Georgia. In 2013, Trish joined the Pelvic Health Institute at Doctors Hospital where she draws on her extensive experience to fulfill her passion of educating women about their personal health and assisting them to find the best care possible. In her role as Pelvic Health Navigator, she is available to answer questions about pelvic floor problems and to serve as a resource to physicians in the coordination of care.
