Many patients turn to robotic surgery to treat conditions involving organs and tissues in the chest cavity. Thoracic (chest) surgery is used to treat many conditions such as lung cancer and disease of the esophagus.

As a leader in technology, Doctors Hospital offers daVinci® robotic assisted thoracic surgery, a less invasive approach to the traditional open surgery which requires a long incision through the chest well, known as thoracotomy. There are some cases in the traditional approach where the surgeon will need to cut open the breastbone at the front of the ribcage, known as a sternotomy.

daVinci® thoracic surgery is performed with a few tiny incisions between the patient’s ribs, avoiding both a large incision and the possibility of having their ribs spread.
