High-Risk Pregnancy Care
Providing critical health care services for “high-risk” pregnancies is extremely important. Doctors Hospital provides high-risk obstetric patients access to a perinatologist through our Maternal Fetal Medicine program, expanding the outstanding care for moms and babies provided at our hospital. Perinatologists take care of both the mother and the fetus (unborn baby) during a complicated, or high-risk, pregnancy. Perinatology is often called maternal fetal medicine.
When you’re pregnant, prenatal tests give you information about your health and your baby’s. They help detect any problems that could affect your baby, like birth defects or genetic diseases. The perinatologists use the results to help you make the best health care decisions before and after your child is born. Doctors often recommend prenatal tests for all pregnant women, but some women will need other screening tests to check for certain problems.
Services provided by the team at Doctors Hospital Maternal Fetal Medicine Center include:
- Chorionic villus sampling, a test for genetic disorders, or for mothers age 35 and older
- Diabetes care
- Management of multiple births
- Level II ultrasound
- Other genetic tests
