Breast imaging services

All mammograms at the Women's Diagnostic Center are performed by mammographers certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Our friendly staff is focused on patient convenience and ensuring routine mammograms are done in the quickest and most efficient manner possible.

Exams and procedures performed at the Women’s Diagnostic Center include:

  • 3D mammography
  • Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Digital mammography
  • Bone densitometry studies (DEXA)
  • Ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies

Our radiologists use computer-aided detection (CAD), which is an imaging software that helps our team identify breast cancer in its earlier stages. Following a mammogram, CAD is used to find any suspicious areas requiring another look.

What is a breast biopsy?

If an abnormality is identified on a breast imaging exam, we may perform an alternate form of imaging or conduct a breast biopsy. The purpose of a breast biopsy is to determine if a lump is cancerous or benign. This is a simple procedure where a small tissue sample is removed from the suspicious area for further examination and diagnosis. We perform:

  • Minimally invasive ultrasound-guided breast biopsies
  • Needle breast biopsies
  • Stereotactic (X-ray-guided) breast biopsies
  • 3D tomosynthesis breast biopsy
