Doctors Hospital Earns ‘Top Performer on Key Quality Measures’ Recognition from The Joint Commission
September 19, 2012
Augusta, GA - Doctors Hospital is proud to announce that it was named one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America.
Doctors Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission based on data reported about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
Doctors Hospital is one of only 620 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported on The Joint Commission during the 2011 calendar year. The list of Top Performers increased by 50 percent from its debut last year and represents 18 percent of more than 3,400 eligible accredited hospitals reporting data.
This is the second year in a row that Doctors Hospital is being recognized as a Top Performer. It is one of only 244 hospitals that achieved the distinction for two consecutive years.
To be recognized as a top performer on key quality measures, an organization must meet two 95 percent performance thresholds. First, they must achieve a composite performance of 95 percent or above after the results of all the accountability measures for which they report data to The Joint Commission. Second, they must meet or exceed a 95 percent performance target for each and every accountability measure for which they report data.
“At Doctors Hospital we strive to provide our patients with the best quality of service possible. Earning this distinction for the second year in a row proves that we focus heavily on positive outcomes. We are very proud to be named a Top Performer by The Joint Commission,” says Doug Welch, Chief Executive Officer at Doctors Hospital.
In addition to being included in today’s release of The Joint Commission’s “Improving America’s Hospitals” annual report, Doctors Hospital will be recognized on The Joint Commission’s Quality Check website.
